Pick a look

Updated September 5, 2026 · 3 min

Messiah does not have a theme store. It has seven looks: complete designs that set the typefaces, color palettes, corner radius, spacing, shadows, the header, footer and hero layouts, how much the site moves, and how sections alternate between light and dark bands. A look is one decision instead of thirty, and everything under it stays adjustable.
  1. Know the seven

Fresh is the clean, all-sans default for most businesses. Journal is magazine-like — serif headlines, generous air, hairline rules. Signal has product-launch energy: dark anchor bands, glow, big numbers. Atelier is quiet luxury — high-contrast serif, huge whitespace, square corners. Hearth is warm and handmade: terracotta and olive, soft arches, pill buttons. Confetti is bright and bold with rounded type and hard-offset cards. Noir is dark by default, with a gold accent and an elegant serif — restaurants and studios love it.

    Tip

Every look ships with two or three palettes and font pairings chosen for it. Pick the look first; the palette grid then shows only what suits it, and “Show all palettes” lifts that filter.
  2. Pick one when you create the site

The "Pick a look" step of the create-site wizard shows the seven cards with a live thumbnail each. "Let Messiah choose" is the default: the AI reads your description and picks the look that fits the business, the way a designer would. Choose a card yourself when you already know the direction you want — Messiah then builds every page in that look.

  3. Switch it any time in the editor

The "Look" section at the top of the editor's Design tab holds the same seven cards. Tapping one restyles every page at once — free, instant, and undoable. The "Current:" line names your look and shows "(customized)" once you have changed a control under it; tapping the same look again resets those controls to the look's defaults. You can also just ask the chat: "make it feel more like a magazine" switches the look for you.

  4. Or show us a site you like

If you have a site whose feel you want, skip the cards: choose "Match a site I like" in the wizard (or "Match a reference site" in the Design tab) and drop in a screenshot — PNG, JPEG or WebP, up to 8 MB. Messiah reads its character — light or dark, type, density, corners, color temperature — and applies the closest look, palette and fonts. Nothing from the screenshot is copied into your site, and the image is deleted two weeks after its last use.

Frequently asked

Is a look the same as a template?

No. A template is a fixed page you fill in; a look is a set of design decisions applied to pages Messiah writes for your business. Two sites in the same look share a mood, not a layout.

Can I mix looks across pages?

A look applies to the whole site so every page feels like one place. Within it, each section has its own "Band" (light, tinted, dark, brand) and each header, footer and hero has its own layout picker.
