Add and organize products

Updated August 6, 2026 · 5 min

The Online Store module adds a full product catalog to theDavid admin. Here is what goes into a single product, start to finish.
  1. Add a new product

From the Products screen, click "Add New Product." Give it a title, an optional subtitle, and a full description in the rich text editor — this is what shows up on the product's page.

  2. Set pricing

The Pricing card holds the Price customers pay, an optional "Compare at Price" for showing a markdown, and a Cost Price for your own records — it's never shown to customers. A "Charge taxes on this product" checkbox controls whether tax applies at checkout.

  3. Track inventory

The "Inventory & Shipping" card holds a SKU and Barcode for your own reference, a "Track inventory for this product" checkbox that reveals a Quantity field once turned on, and a Weight in ounces for shipping calculations.

    Tip

Leave “Track inventory” off for anything that never runs out — a service, a digital download, or a made-to-order item.
  4. Add photos

The "Featured Image" card is the product's main photo — click "Select or drop image" to upload one or pick from your media library. A separate gallery holds additional photos for the product's page.

  5. Organize it

The "Organization" card sets the Product Type — Physical Product, Digital Product, or Service — plus a Category and a Vendor, each with a "+" button to create a new one on the spot without leaving the page. A Tags field beneath them takes free-text tags: type one and press Enter to add it.

  6. Publish, save as a draft, or archive it

The Status field switches between Draft, Published, and Archived, and the button beneath it reads "Create Product" for a new one or "Update Product" once it exists. The Products screen also has Categories and Vendors tabs alongside the product list, for organizing your catalog as it grows.
